ABSTRACT THESIS TITLE : THE PERCEPTION OF THE SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH MEMBER TOWARDS THE PROTECTION OF GOD BASED ON PSALM 46:2, IN THE XII REGION OF JAKARTA CONFERENCE AND ITS SURROUNDING Name : Denny Desby Komaling Date OF Title : The thirthteen of May, 2016 Title : Master Filsafat (M.Fil) Academic Advisor : Dr. Bartholomeus Diaz N. MPS This thesis was began with the Chapter 1: problem background explanation about the perception of the Seventh Day Adventist Church member towards the protection of God based on Psalm 46:2 in the XII Region of Jakarta conference and its surrounding. In this research, was raised three problem: First, God’s protection concept based on Psalm 46:2, Based on that explanation, are the practice of the Life insurance using was a proper things to get a protection solution in the future in the church member? Second, understanding the concept of the God’s protection based on Psalm 46:2, were there a significant impact in the spiritual life, so it would be a positive influence in the using of the Life insurance for the future protection? Third, realizing the importance of the future protection, do getting the Life Insurance protection made the people closer with God? Chapter 2 discusses the exposure of Divine protection concept is based on Psalm 46: 2, which begins with the background of the book of Psalms, Title and writing, Canon of the Psalms, and the time of writing the Book of Psalms, Structure and Purpose of the Book of Psalms. The concept of Life Insurance. Chapter 3 Discussion on Research Methods used, study design, population, location research, data collection methods, Data Analysis Techniques, and ending with Hypothesis Test Procedure. Chapter 4 on Research. This research was held in the XII Region of the Jakarta conference and its surrounding, which have the member around 800 members, consist of 14 local church, and the sample was around 160 sample, 20 % from the 800 members. The method that was used in this research was the quantitative survey that made the test was held used quantitative statistic, like: Validity Test, Realibility test, Normality test, Linearity test, Hypothesis test, and statistic descriptive test. The data collection tools was the questionnaire to measure the variable about the church member perceptions towards the God’s protection based on Psalm 46:2 in the XII Region of Jakarta Conference and its surrounding, with the answering scale from 1-5. The aim for this research was to get the Biblical concept about God’s protection and about the using of the Life insurance protection which be the Base of thinking psalm 46:2 with expository. To give a opinion comparison and avoid the pro and contra in using the Life insurance protection for every member in the XII Region of the Jakarta Conference and its surrounding, The analysis that was held for this research was: Descriptive of data, Validity test, Reability test, Normality test, Linearity test, Hypothesis test and statistic descriptive test. Chapter 5 Discussion of Conclusions. The conclusion there were a perception of the SDA Church members towards the protection of God based on Psalm 46:2, which means that those perceptions gave the comparison opinion and avoiding the pro and contra in using the life insurance protection and avoiding the pro and contra in using the life insurance protection to each member in XII region with the biblical concept about the using of the life insurance protection which be the basic thought from the psalm 42:2. Generally the church member disagree to make God as a protection in the difficulties situations, that’s why the church members made the the protection and strength just from God. Generally, the respondent gender was female which had the highest point about the perception of the SDA Church member towards the God’s protection based on Psalm 46:2. The average age of the respondent was 20-30 years old which had the highest point towards the perceptions of the SDA Church members towards the protection of God based on Psalm 46:2, in the XII Region Jakarta Conference and its surrounding. Generally, the unmarried respondent had the highest points about the perceptions of the SDA Church members towards the protection of God based on Psalm 46:2, in the XII Region Jakarta Conference and its surrounding. The average respondents who had the high school graduates educational background had the highest points about the perceptions of the SDA Church members towards the protection of God based on Psalm 46:2, in the XII Region Jakarta Conference and its surrounding. The understanding level of the SDA Church members towards the God’s protection amount 66,5%, which means there were still 33.5 % of other factors which influenced the understanding level of the SDA Church members in the XII region towards the God’s protection concepts so it was a proper things to use the Life Insurance protection. Another 33,5 % factors which influenced the understanding of the SDA church members in the XII regions towards the God’s protections concepts cab made a pro and contra in using the life insurance protection to every church members in the XII region. So, it needed to held some activities like seminars, Spiritual meetings about the perceptions of the SDA Church members towards the protection of God based on Psalm 46:2, in the XII Region Jakarta Conference and its surrounding. So in using the life insurance protections is a proper things to do and the percentage will be increasing. It needed to be given the sermon in the midweek service, vesper or in the Sabbath worship to the church members so they can have a clearer vision and can avoid the pro and contra in using the life insurance protection in their future.
