PENGETAHUAN MAHASISWA TENTANG HIV DAN AIDS DI UNIVERSITAS ADVENT INDONESIA

ABSTRACT KNOWLEDGE OF HIV AND AIDS AMONGST STUDENTS AT ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA ENGGRID AMELIA SIMBOLON NIM: 1551058 Knowledge of transmission of HIV and AIDS is misunderstod by the student of Adventist University of Indonesia, based in the previous interview prior to the research. The student from various courses which differ from nursing courses could also get infected if they were not aware and careless when befriend people who already get infected with HIV and AIDS who lives around them. This research aims to know the knowledge of HIV and AIDS among the studens at Adventist University of Indonesia with various variable. This study correlation descriptive as a research design. The sample of research are 3rd year students where not nursing student with total of 284 persons. The data collected with questionnaire which consist of 25 questions. Calculated with percentage and chi square formula using SPSS version 20. The result shows knowledge of student is 70,85% fell in modirate category. The knowledge of female 72,21%, and male 68,86%. The knowledge of exact students is 72,16% fell in moderate category, the knowledge of nonexact student is 70,57% with knowledge of student with age range of 20 years old is 71,25%, 21 years old is 70,79%, 22 years old is 69,80% and 26 years old 62%. The result shows there is significant difference between gender but there are no significant difference between courses and age about knowledge of HIV and AIDS. Suggestions for health workers such as nurses to conduct seminars and teach nursing students such as professions who are practicing in the community to conduct health promotion to students around them. Suggestions for subsequent researchers, Used as a reference for developing subsequent research with intervention of counseling and larger samples. Keywords : Knowledge, HIV and AIDS
