ABSTRAC The use of Social Media and the level knowledge students XI of HIV/AIDS in SMAN 1 Parongpong Elia Gerald Akhatisah Mnahonin 1351080 Technological development it has changed the way interaction individual by other individuals. Social media is one form of technological development.According to the ministry of Communications and Information Internet Users in Indonesia in reached 63 million people, from the figure 95 % use the internet access to social networking. Social media is an online media based which is very useful to exchange information between people. Social media in the life of a teenager form the new world in the thinking pattern youth and interact and communicate to of a new thing, but what use of social media can also make an impact bad for the used to learn lessons wasted so that the decline. This research using research method approach descriptive with cross section namely with one times observations on the time span of certain specified for studies the use of social media and the level of knowledge of high school students about HIV/AIDS. The results of research suggests that there is meaningful correlation between two variables but his power namely 0,242 weak. With significance in 0,008 means Ha accepted and Ho rejected with significance to confidence level of 95 % value α = 0,28. This research result expected to be applied directly science obtained during the research on HIV/AIDS to High Schools 1 Parongpong in order to give concrete data regarding the use of social media on knowledge of students about HIV/AIDS. To further research is expected the research results can be developed in research about the frequency of recurrent the use of social media . Keywords: Social Media , knowledge about HIV/AIDS
