ABSTRACT Thesis Title : THEOLOGICAL ANALYSIS BASED ON CHARACTERISTICS LEADER EXODUS 18:21 OF SPIRITUAL GROWTH PARISHIONER IN REGION XII CONFERENCE JAKARTA AREA Researcher Name: Hotman Sadar Pasaribu Name and Title : M.Fil Supervisor : Dr. B.D. Nainggolan, MPS End Date : ____Mei 2016 The world needs a leader. Each community formed officially, both large and small groups, usually need a leader. Maxwell, in his book writes that leaders are needed at all levels of the organization. Without a leader, the vision will be lost; the decision will be delayed; agenda will be doubled; the conflict will be prolonged; and morale is low. Scripture informs that a nation or a people without a leader, very fatal consequences, and will experience the inevitable collapse. (Proverbs 11:14). Leadership is influence, the ability of a person to influence others. In other words, the role of a leader can influence the people they lead. In fact, services such leadership has brought satisfaction and joy to Moses and also for the people he leads (Exodus 18:23). This shows the reality that an understanding would be characteristic of a leader is based on Exodus 18:21 affect the results that will be achieved by the leaders and the people they lead. As the spiritual leader of course that should be highlighted is the service, the willingness of giving life to the people. Many church leaders to further highlight the aspect of power over to the ministry. Many leaders do not give examples and exemplary in their behavior, especially as spiritual leaders. Instead, the press is not just the fall of world leaders, but also priests who embezzled church funds or perform sexual abuse. Stories like these are selling well because it is an example of blatant hypocrisy. How much of the destruction caused by the gap between the teachings and behavior of pastors and leaders who call upon others to live according to God's standards, but they themselves are hypocrites. The purpose of writing and research to be done is to answer the proposed hypothesis is correct and accountable, so the purpose of the thesis is first, Want to go deeper would be the characteristics of a leader is based on Exodus 18:21. Second, to provide a correct analysis of the influence of the leader of the spiritual growth of the church members. Third, in order to be meaningful input for the whole church leader in building and developing the leadership of the church in Region XII Conference Jakarta and Organizations Seventh-day Adventist Church. Fourth, as one of the requirements to obtain a Master degree in Philosophy (S2). The benefits of this research are first, useful for the author to be a reference in pastoral ministry in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Second, the benefit to church leaders XII region to develop leadership in the church ministry. Third, the benefit to the organization to be able to teach and direct the characteristics of a leader based on the Bible. The research method that writer use in preparing this thesis, there are two (2) sections, namely, first Bibliography Data and second was Data Field. The field data was made through descriptive method, according to Nasir, the descriptive method is a method in the research group of people, an object, a system of thought or an event today that the goal is to get a picture of systematic, factual, and accurate information on the facts, nature- as well as the nature of the relationship or phenomenon investigated. Field data collection is done by first distributing questionnaires. Questionnaires were distributed to members of the church that is in Region XII Conference of Jakarta and surrounding areas. And second, conduct a literature review to get ideas and input information books and other literature from several libraries, such as Indonesia Bandung Adventist University library, and the library of the College of Theology Jakarta Statistical analysis using ANOVA. The analysis is required to determine whether the analysis of data for testing can be continued or not. Several data analysis techniques demanding test requirements analysis. Analysis of variance requires that the data came from a normal distributed population and groups than homogeneous. Therefore, analysis of variance requires the validity, reliability, normality, linearity, hypothesis and descriptive statistics. The number of respondents who had filled out questionnaires from No. 1-24 items of 160 people. The conclusion in this study is, first there is influence between the characteristics of Leaders Based on Exodus 18:21 to Spiritual Growth parishioners In Region XII Conference of Jakarta and surrounding that is equal to 68.9%. Secondly, the characteristics of leaders based on Exodus 18:21 parishioners according to Region XII Conference in Jakarta and surrounding is yet to get a satisfactory value. Secondly, Effect understanding of the characteristics of a leader is based on Exodus 18:21 to Spiritual Growth Parishioners In Region XII Conference of Jakarta and surrounding is yet to get a satisfactory value. There are still 31.1% of other factors that affect the spiritual growth of the church members in Region XII Conference Jakarta and Surrounding Areas. Third, understanding the influence of the characteristics of members of the Church of Spiritual Growth is still low when compared to Members of Concepts Understanding Spiritual Leader and Leader Characteristics Based on Exodus 18:21, especially for Bintaro Immanuel congregation. Suggestions that the authors give is first, There needs to be held seminars and briefing to Church leaders about the characteristics of Leaders Based on Exodus 18:21 to Spiritual Growth parishioners In Region XII Conference of Jakarta and surrounding that faith and spirituality parishioners In Region XII Conference of Jakarta and surrounding is increasing. Secondly, Require the development of church leaders from the region XII to develop leadership ministry in the church by teaching and directing the characteristics of a leader based on the Bible. The implication of this study is the first leadership was able to influence others and have an enormous influence on the people they lead, if a leader of the show curiosity, a creative spirit, communicative, character, courage, confidence, charisma, competent and have the clarity of mind. And the second is the more highlight aspects of church leader’s power over to the ministry. Many leaders do not give examples and exemplary in their behavior, especially as spiritual leaders. As the spiritual leader of course that should be highlighted is the service.
