PERBEDAAN KOMPRES HANGAT DENGAN KOMPRES DINGIN TERHADAP TINGKAT DISMENORE PADA MAHASISWI DI UNIVERSITAS ADVENT INDONESIA

ABSTRACT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WARM COMPRESS WITH COLD COMPRESS FOR THE LEVEL OF DYSMENORRHEA ON WOMAN STUDENTS IN ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA Mercy Rosmauly Obrina Amadea Pardosi NIM: 1251054 Dysmenorrhea is a common problem that often happens in women. The appropriate way needed to handle dysmenorrhea, one of them is giving compress. Compress can relaxing muscle contraction and launched blood circulation so that it can lower the level of dysmenorrhea. This study is done to knowing the difference between warm compress with cold compress on the extent of dysmenorrhea on college student at The Adventist University of Indonesia. The research was experimental with one-group pretest and postest design. The subject in this study was 40 and divided into 2 groups, 20 subject to the group of warm compress and 20 subject to the group of cold compress and in accordance with the criteria of the research. The level of dysmenorrhea of the subject measured before and after granting compress by using Numerical Rating Scale (NRS). The data of the level of dysmenorrhea before and after the intervention calculated using median formulas, then followed by the test of Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney. The statistics measurement of warm compress group shows that the value of p=0.000 < α=0.05 this means that H0 is rejected. The statistics measurement of cold compress group shows that the value of p=0.000 < α=0,05 this means that H0 is rejected. This research results also show that the value of p=0.289 > α=0.05. The conclusion of this research is there are no significant differences between warm compress and cold compress on the level of dysmenorrhea on woman students at The Adventists University of Indonesia.
