ABSTRACT COMPARISON OF CARROT (DAUCUS CARROTA) AND TOMATO (LYOPERCISUM ESCULENTUM) JUICE EFFECTS ON PEOPLE WITH PRE-HYPERTENSION IN ADULT WOMEN FROM CIHANJUANG RAHAYU VILLAGE Monina Seran NIM: 1251064 Consuming carrot and tomato juice can lower blood pressure in adult men and women who have normal blood pressure (Ivan (2005) and Raharjo (2013)). The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of carrot and tomato juice on people with pre-hypertension in adult women from Cihanjuang Rahayu village. The method used was purely experimental method with post test only design. The population used was adult women aged 18-40 with pre-hypertension in RT 02 Cihanjuang Rahayu village, West Bandung. The total of 28 research subjects were selected by purposive sampling and divided into two groups: the first 14 subjects consumed carrot juice and the other 14 subjects consumed tomato juice. The instruments used are AND branded digital sphygmomanometer, observation sheets and stationary. The materials are carrot and tomato juice 200 ml each that was given for 5 days. The blood pressure data acquisition in this research was processed using mean formula, followed by independent t-test. The results showed that there was no significant change in systolic blood pressure after the administration of carrot and tomato juice for 5 days with the value of p= .395 > (0,05). While there was a significant change in diastolic blood pressure after the administration of carrot and tomato juice for 5 days with the value of p= .000 > (0,0%).
