ABSTRACT EFFECTIVENESS ICE COMPRESS PRE INJECTION TO REDUCE THE LEVEL OF PAIN AT THE MOMENT PROCEDURE ITRAMUSCULAR INJECTION ON STUDENTS AT ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY OF INDONESIA Rebekka Togatorop NIM: 1251073 Ice packs can reduce pain as a local anesthetic before the injection. This study was conducted to determine significant differences were given an ice pack with three groups of administration that can reduce the level of pain during the procedure intramuscular injection on the students at Adventist University of Indonesia. The level of pain was measured using a research subject Verbal Rating Scale (VRS). Methods: This study used an experimental method with Posttest Only Design. The data collection method is purposive sampling method that is giving a student an ice pack to young adults 18-25 years old who have not received previous intramuscular injection Results: The results showed that the level of pain Award ice pack for 10 minutes is at a value of 2.1 is at pains being, while giving an ice pack for 15 minutes is at a value of 1.6 is mild pain and providing an ice pack for 20 minutes is 0.6 which means no pain (expressed no pain). then continued with a statistical test using the Kruskal-Wallis test using 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). The results of the Kruskal-Wallis statistical test sig = 0.001 <α = 0:05. Which states that an ice pack for 10 minutes. 15 minutes and 20 minutes influence in reducing injection pain. Giving an ice pack for 20 minutes most effective in lowering the level of pain by an average of 1.6 which means no pain (expressed no pain). Discussion: The conclusion of this study showed that administration of an ice pack for 20 minutes before intramuscular injection is more effective in lowering the level of injection pain.
