ABSTRACT FAMILY SUPPORT DESCRIPTION FOR PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC FAILURES AT RUMAH SAKIT ADVENT BANDUNG Mutiara Santi Damanik Nim: 1351053 People with Chronic Renal Failure experience feelings of frustration, sadness, anger and depression when they go through a period of hemodialysis and thus require family support. Family support greatly affects the mental condition of family members. Family support for CRF clients who is undergoing hemodialysis, includes: instrumental support, informational support, emotional support, hope support and self-esteem support. The purpose of this research is to find out the description of family support for patients with chronic renal failure when they go through a period of hemodialysis at the Rumah Sakit Advent Bandung. The research method used in this research is descriptive. The sampling technique was selected by porpusive sampling which consisted of 60 patients with CRF who go through a period of hemodialysis therapy at Rumah Sakit Advent Bandung. The results of this study showed that family support for CRF patients who go through a period of hemodialysis at Advent Bandung Hospital is in the good category is 80.42%. Dominant family support is emotional support and less dominant support is self-esteem support. The author suggest that nurses n the field of hemodialysis can encourage family members of the patients to provide more support as written to patents with CRF.
