ABSTRACT PAIN SCALE BEFORE AND AFTER EFFLEURAGE MASSAGE AND KENNY-G INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC THERAPY ON STUDENT WITH DYSMENORRHEA AT INDONESIA ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY Ayu Nathania NIM: 1251007 Background: Female student who experience dysmenorrhea, or menstrual pain at the Adventist University of Indonesia was not a little. Most of the female students did not know that dysmenorrhea can be treated with massage therapy and music therapy, but there are some who know but do not do the therapy.. Objective: This study was conducted to determine significant differences in pain scale student who experience dysmenorrhea with massage therapy and music therapy. Methods: The method used was experimental research design with two group pretest-posttest design. The population in this research is student Adventist University of Indonesia. Sample of this research are 30 research subjects were divided into two different groups. The method of collecting the data in this research is using purposive sampling method. Results: The results of statistical test Mann-Whitney sig = 0,009 <α = 0.05 which means that H0 rejected and Ha accepted the conclusion there are significant differences in the delivery of therapeutic massage and music therapy for 15 minutes on the pain scale on the students with dysmenorrhea at Adventist University of Indonesia , Conclusion: massage therapy is more effective to reduce the pain scale compared with music therapy. Massage therapy given at the back which is a pain inhibitor complex which secrete enkephalin to inhibit pain impulses and close the gate control before pain impulses interpreted in the brain.
