ABSTRACT EFFECTIVENESS OF DEEP BREATH RELAXATION TECHNIQUES TO DECREASE DYSMENORRHEA IN GIRLS DORMITORY UNIVERSITAS ADVENT INDONESIA Monica Rahel Sabattini NIM: 1251005 This research was motivated form interview with 10 college students about how to cope dysmenorrhea in Universitas Advent Indonesia. It was found that five of 10 student only use eucalyptus oil or had a bed rest. The purpose of this research was to determine the effectiveness of deep breath relaxation techniques to decrease dysmenorrhea in girls dormitorys Universitas Advent Indonesia. The population of this research were 20 female students at the girls dorms Universitas Advent Indonesia were selected by purposive sampling. The method of this research is the pre-experimental with pretest-posttest design. Measuring instrument was the observation Numerical Rating Scale sheet (NRS). The analysis that was used in this research were the "t" paired with α = 0.05 and df = n-1. The results before deep breathing relaxation techniques, dysmenorrhea pain scale subjects had moderate pain in the category with an average value of 4.9. After deep breathing relaxation techniques dysmenorrhea pain scale decreased into the category of mild pain with an average value of 3.8. The results showed a significant difference in the changes of pain scale scores or dysmenorrhea intensity before and after deep breathing relaxation techniques. Advice to the matron of the girls dormitory , is that results of this research can be an input to help the student who are experiencing pain because of dysmenorrhea in girls dormitory with deep breath relaxation techniques. In the field of research can be used as an information information or basic data on the effect of deep breath relaxation techniques in pain reduction of gastritis.
