ABSTRACT MESSAGE EFFECTIVENESS AND SMOKING HAZARD IMAGES TOWARDS SMOKING BEHAVIOR IN STATE 1ST SMP IN PARONGPONG, BANDUNG BARAT Aldo Rifaldi Balo ID: 1551001 According to WHO data, Indonesia is the country consuming the most cigarettes in the world after China and India. Indonesia with a population of 238 million is a potential market for cigarette entrepreneurs, as a result the number of active smokers is increasing to reach 60 million, which is dominated by teenagers. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the message and the picture of the dangers of smoking on smoking behavior in Parongpong State Middle 1, West Bandung. The design used in this study is descriptive quantitative, a sample of 100 people selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was obtained using a questionnaire. The results of this study found that the message and picture of the dangers of smoking on smoking behavior in Parongpong 1 Public Middle School, West Bandung, were effected with a mean or an average of 3.96. Suggestions that can be given for this study can be used as a reference data for the Ministry of Health and the school to continue to provide guidance, so that for the next research the teenagers respond to visual labels in the form of short messages and pictures of the dangers of smoking.
