ABSTRACT LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN ABOUT FIRST AID at ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ADVENT PARONGPONG DISTRICT WEST JAVA EVAN SUBEKTI NIM: 1651107 School-aged children are the main asset or capital of future development that needs to be maintained, enhanced and protected especially in term of health. The most common injury in elementary school children is wound injury. First aid wound care is very important to prevent a worse impact. Therefore, it is important for elementary school children to have knowledge of first aid. This study aims to find out how the students’ knowledge about first aid. The research design used in this study is pra-post test design in one group. For retrieving the sample this research used purposive sampling that have the total of 57 students grade 4, 5, and 6 in elementary school Advent Parongpong, West Bandung Distric. Data were collected using a test consisting of 15 questions that were first tested for validation and reliability testing.The collected data is then processed by using the formula of percentage and hypothesis test with t-test.The results showed that knowledge of first aid before health counseling was less and knowledge after counseling was good.The result of t-test shows that there is a significant difference between the knowledge of first aid before and after health education elementary school Advent Parongpong with tcount -12,5 at 95% confidence level or α = 0,05. Suggestions for nursing research are the result of this research is expected to be a reference of input for other researchers who want to do further research on knowledge and management of first aid.
