PENGARUH BACKRUB TERHADAP TANDA-TANDA VITAL PASIEN POST OPERASI APPENDIKTOMI DI RUMAH SAKIT ADVENT BANDAR LAMPUNG

ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF BACKRUB AGAINST THE VITAL SIGNS OF PATIENTS POST OPERATION APPENDECTOMY IN BANDAR LAMPUNG ADVENTIST HOSPITAL Heny Yuni Shara NIM: 1551067 Appendectomy is a surgery that is often done, which can cause discomfort or pain and affect the patient's vital signs. Nursing actions like backrubs can give a relaxing effect and increase the sense of comfort. The purpose of this research is to know the influence of backrub on patient’s vital signs with post operation appendectomy. This research uses pre experimental design with one group pretest posttest only. The techniques used for sampling is purposive sampling with inclusion criteria i.e. patient male and female adult age 18-50 who had undergone appendectomy in Bandar Lampung Adventist Hospital. The backrub was performed only once with a period of 15 minutes, conducted the day after the post operation. The number of respondents in this study is 20 patients post appendectomy. Vital signs are measured before and after performing backrub. Data analyzed by SPSS using the paired t test and Wilcoxon W. The results showed that there was a significant difference (p value <. 05) at a temperature of the body before and after backrub. But there were no significant differences in the pulse, respiration, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and before and after the backrub. The vital signs of these patients are in the normal range after backrub. Suggestions for further research is researching the effects of backrub on level of pain and anxiety of patients post appendectomy. Key words: Appendectomy, Backrub, Vital Signs
