PENGALAMAN PERAWAT DALAM MERAWAT ORANG DENGAN HIV/AIDS (ODHA) DI RUMAH SAKIT ADVENT BANDUNG

ABSTRACT NURSING EXPERIENCE IN TREATING PEOPLE WITH HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) AT ADVENTIST HOSPITAL BANDUNG Arranged by: Alma Tauji Alexandra Rimbing 1551024 HIV/AIDS is a disease resulting from infection of human immunodeficiency virus that attacks a person immune system. In 2016 in West Java there were 5,289 people with AIDS and HIV sufferers 24,650. According to UNAIDS, 2016 reluctance of health workers to reach out to the population of PEOPLE LIVING with HIV (PLWHA) can limit HIV prevention and care services for PLWHA. This is in accordance with the experience of the researcher for taking care of PLWHA, where researchers feel anxious for fear of being transmited by the disease despite already getting education regarding HIV/AIDS and ways of transmission. Berg and Nilsson, 2015 stated to increase nursing care, the nurse should rule out a sense of fear against patients PLWHA in order to interact with sympathy to get important information relating to the improvement of patient care. The purpose of this research is to describe the experience of nurses in the care of PLWHA in Bandung Adventist Hospital. This research uses qualitative approach method of Phenomenology. Informants in this study is nurses amount to 6 people that interviewed in in-depth interview guidelines. After the results of the interview are analyzed, the researcher found 8 categories i.e. nurse knowledge about HIV/AIDS, the impact on PLWHA, the attitude of the nurses, nurse's response when assigned to care for PLWHA, the preparation on facing PLWHA, PLWHA nursing care, obstacles in caring of PLWHA and establish communication. From this research can be found that the informant has knowledge of HIV/AIDS disease, being acceptance to care for PLWHA, providing nursing care of thoroughly, and can establish good communication despite facing obstacles such as patients who would not open up. This research can be an input to enhance the sense of empathy in providing nursing care in patients PEOPLE LIVING with HIV/AIDS. Keywords: Experience, Nurses, HIV/AIDS
