ABSTRACT BLOOD PRESSURE DIFFERENCE IN YOUNG ADULT WOMEN WITH NORMAL WEIGHT AND OVERWEIGHT IN UNIVERSITAS ADVENT INDONESIA Firdawati Lola NIM: 1451075 The state of being overweight is a risk factor of hypertension. A normal systolic blood pressure of an adult blood is <120 mmHg with a diastolic measure of <80 mmHg. Overweight can be measured by using Body Max Index (BMI), which is the ratio of body weight (kilogram) to the square of height (meters). This study aims to determine differences in blood pressure of young adult women with normal weight and overweight at Universitas Advent Indonesia. The research design is descriptive analysis. Total number of respondents were 224 people divided into normal weight group and overweight, each group consisted of 112 respondents. Respondents in the normal weight group had a mean systolic blood pressure of 107.23 mmHg and 74.94 mmHg diastolic. Respondents who are overweight had a mean systolic blood pressure of 114.50 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of 77.97 mmHg. The mean blood pressure of normal weight group and overweight in the analysis with Mann Whitney test showed blood pressure p <.05 in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant difference in the blood pressure of young adult women with normal weight and overweight. The results of this study can be used as a material for health education towards young adult women in the community. Keywords: Blood Pressure, Normal Weight, Overweight.
