IMPLEMENTATION OF INFUSION FLOW RATE CONTROL PROCEDURE BY NURSES ON DETERMINATION OF INFUSION FLUID ACCURATION LEVELIN MEDICAL SURGICAL PATIENTS AT BANDUNG ADVENTIST HOSPITAL Jance Manno Nursing Faculty, Indonesia Adventist University ABSTRACT Introduction: Fluids are part of the basic human needs physiologically and it is important for homeostasis. One of the interventions to meet and solve the problem of fluid and electrolyte needs is through giving infusion. In monitoring the infusion flow, nurses need to pay attention to the accuracy, so, there will be no unwanted things happen. Bandung Adventist Hospital has standard operating procedures (SOP) in calculating and monitoring infusion flow. Unfortunately, based on a questionnaire given in patients from July-December 2017, there were 56 infusion vacuum cases from 885 patients who were infused. Aim: This study aimed to determine whether there is relationship between implementation of infusion flow rate control procedure on determination of infusion fluid accuration level in medical surgical patients at Bandung Adventist Hospital. Method: This study was using correlative descriptive method. The subject of the study were nurses in the medical-surgical ward. 50 respondents was chosen using calculation of slovin formula and taken at random. Data collection was taken through observation during July 2018. Result: The data was analyzed by phi coefficient formula which shows that the value of phi (ɸ) = 0.60593. The result is bigger than the value of r table = 0.254, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between implementation of infusion flow rate control procedure on determination of infusion fluid accuration level in surgical medical patients at Bandung Adventist Hospital. Discussion: A strategy to overcome obstacles to the implementation of drip infusion control procedures should be implemented. Keywords: Accuracy, fluid, flow rate, procedure.
