ANALISIS FILSAFAT MUSIK DAN PENGARUHNYA TERHADAP TINGKAT KEHADIRAN ANGGOTA DALAM IBADAH DI GEREJA MASEHI ADVENT HARI KETUJUH SEKTOR PONTIANAK, KALIMANTAN BARAT BERDASARKAN MAZMUR 150:1-6
XMLABSTRACT Thesis Title : ANALYSIS OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF MUSIC AND ITS INFLUENCE TOWARDS THE LEVEL OF MEMBERS PRESENCE IN WORSHIP AT SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH OF PONTIANAK AREA, WEST KALIMANTAN BASED ON PSALM 150:1-6 Researcher Name : Rikky Marbun Name and Title : M.Fil Supervisor : Dr. R.W. Sagala, MPTh. End Date : ____April 2018 Music plays an important role in the lives of Christians. Musical instruments are God's idea. Music is God's idea. He wants both to be used for His glory in every worship. Music is an effective means for the congregation to express their will and feelings to God. In the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) of the Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan, the authors suspect that music has not had an important role in worship and attendance of members in worship. This alleged author is the basis for two reasons. First, there is recognition from members of the congregation when they are late or do not come in worship because of music in the church. Secondly, there is recognition and input from members of the congregation that music can determine the timeliness for the commencement of a service. The purpose of this study is first, to know the understanding of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of the Pontianak Sector, West Kalimantan on the importance of music in worship. Secondly, to see if there is any musical influence in worship on the attendance of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of the Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan. Third, to find out whether music and worship have a relationship in every service. Fourth, giving input to the leader of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of West Kalimantan Area about the importance of music in worship because there are still many churches that have not used music in worship in West Kalimantan District. Fifth, to equip young people of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of the Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan to understand music and their involvement in church worship. Sixth, to expand the knowledge and insight of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of the Pontianak Area of West Kalimantan about music in worship. Seventh, to complete the final project and meet the requirements in completing to the Graduate Master of Philosophy program at Universitas Advent Indonesia (UNAI), Bandung. The writing of this thesis discusses the theoretical thinking about the book of Psalm 150: 1-6 which states that: Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. For that reason on the basis of this theory the author will describe: Definition of music, Music in worship, Music in Biblical view, Music in the Spirit Spirit of Prophecy, Exegesis Psalm 150:1-6. As for the frame of mind that the authors describe is first, music is an important part of worship and has an impact on the attendance of members according to Psalm 150:1-6. Secondly, there is an indication that members of the congregation use music in the liturgy of worship only as a complement in worship. Third, there is an indication that members of the congregation have not understood the music that may affect the presence of members. Fourthly, there is an indication that the congregation is less aware or less informed about the importance of music in worship. Fifth, there is a perception that music in the service has an influence for the progress of ministry in the church. Based on the above description, the following framework is developed: first, how much is the understanding of the members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan, to the importance of music in worship. Secondly, is there any influence of music in increasing the attendance of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan in the worship service? Third, to what extent is the understanding of members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan on the relationship of music and worship? The research was conducted in congregations of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of the Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan. Pattern of development of relationship between Exogenous Variable with Endogenous Variables based on construck development, and with Moderator variable. Exogenous variable with the following indicator X1 is the importance of music in worship in the churches of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan. X2 is the influence of music on worship in the churches of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan on the attendance of members of the congregation. X3 is the relationship of music and worship. The research instrument is a data collection tool in the form of a questionnaire that will be tested for validity and reliability. The research instrument in this research is a list of statements. Data analysis in the study was calculated with Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) program tool version 24.00 for windows. The number of respondents who have filled out questionnaires from no 1-20 item about 75 people. Respondents had eight categories: location, sex, age, education, occupation, position, status. Analysis is needed to determine whether the data analysis for testing can proceed or not. Some data analysis techniques require test requirements analysis. Variant analysis requires that data come from normally distributed populations and groups that are homogeneous. Therefore, variant analysis requires validity, reliability, normality, linearity, hypothesis and descriptive statistics. Based on the research that has been done, the authors conclude that first, the understanding of members of the Adventist Church of Seventh Day Seventh Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan about the importance of music in worship has a score of 4. This shows members of the Pontianak Area congregation, has an understanding of the role of music to a worship service with either because they argue that music is the means used in the worship congregation and the Bible is the foundation for a good musical understanding. Secondly, there is a musical influence on worship at the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan, which is 87%. Members of the congregation believe that music can affect the soul and feelings in worship and music is a divine gift of complementary worship. Third, the level of musical relationships and worship according to members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Pontianak Area, West Kalimantan has a score of 3.54. Members of the congregation believe that music and worship can go hand in hand for worship and agree music has a relationship to a worship service. The implication of this research is that music has an important role in the lives of Christians so that in worship music should be involved. Music is an effective means for the congregation to express their will and feelings to God, increase the presence of the congregation, influence the atmosphere of worship, and can attract souls into the joy of worship. The suggestion that can be given is first, for the Pontianak Sector congregation, let the music quality be further improved as it proved through surveys that have been run music can increase attendance of members in worship. Secondly, to the head of the West Kalimantan Regional office, to ensure that all churches in West Kalimantan use music in every worship. Third, To all members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church West Kalimantan to be given continuous understanding that music is something important to note because it is closely related to a worship.
