ABSTRACT THE EFFECT OF INTERMITTENT BREAK WITH UP DOWN STAIRS TO THE SISTOLIC PRESSURE ANKLE, THE SISTOLIC PRESSURE BRACHIAL, ANKLE-BRACHIAL INDEX AND HEART RATE IN NORMOTENSIVE SUBJECTS DURING PROLONGED SITTING Devi Alfionita NIM: 1341009 Prolonged sitting behavior deemed detrimental to the physiological balance. Sitting in a long period of time can give adverse effects to the cardiovascular system, especially blood circulation system of the lower limbs and cause overweight and obesity. Therefore this research whether intermitten break up of walking up-down the stairs can effect to the heart rate and ankle-brachial index. The experimental study involves 30 normotensive participants, age (20,9±1,8 years old), weigh (56,3 ± 9,2 kg), heigh (162,8 ± 8,0 cm), BMI (Body Mass Index) to normal (21,2 ± 2,9), blood pressure (79,8/115 mmHg ± 12,9/14,4 mmHg) and heart rate (79,8 ±12,9 per minute). The control group didn’t receive treatment, in the form of a 3 minute break activity of walking up-down the stairs. Profile of blood pressure and heart rate were taken and recorded at 0, 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 dan 300. The data obtained is tested with paired T-test on the whole the control group and the treatment group to determine the effect of the break activity of walking up-down the stairs after sitting down for 27 minute. From analysis of the data obtained is concluded that a change in the ankle systolic pressure and heart rate p ≤ α = 0,050 yaitu p = 0,000.
