EFFECTIVENESS OF USING JIGSAW TEACHNIQUE IN TEACHING STUDENTS' READING COMPREHENSION ABILITY

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to find out whether there is significant difierence between students between those who are taught using jigsaw technique and those who are taught usin_g- -con_ventional technique. The participants involved in this study were studentslf SMPN I Parongpong Bandung. Jigsaw is a part of cooperative leaming. ln this technique student was divided into small group and every groups'member get different part from their reading text. This research was divided in four iteps: pilot-test, prc-test, freament (Jigsaw Technique) and Post-Test. At the end of the study researcher found the data from the result of prq+est and post-tost showcd that there is signiflcant diffprence in sfudents' reading comprehension between those who are taught using Jigsaw technique and those who are taught using conventional technique.
