THE EFECTIVENESS OF USING COMPUTER ASSISTED LANGUAGE LEARNING (CALL) TO IMPROVE STUDENTS' ENGLISH ACHIEVEMENT AT SMA ADVENT DOYO BARU, SENTANI

The purpose of this research is to identify how effective is Computer Assisted Language Leaming (CALL) as supporting media in teaching and learning English. and improving students' English achievement. Therefore. the researcher decide to use cALL to solve the students' problems in English achievement. The researcher had selected grade XI students of SMA Advent Doyo Baru, Sentani - Jayapura. Two classes are used, the control group is IpA and the experiment group is IpS. These two groups took the same pre-test. The experimental group used CALL. while the controlled group used conventional method. at the ind of thi.r,, serr.n hours both groups took post-test. As the results, researcher discovered control group and experiment group have different score in pre and post-test. The gain uuru. oi the experiment group is higher than the gain the contror group. Based on the data analvsis of parametric t-test shows that there uere significant difference in students, English achievement on both group. It is therefore concluded that. there is signiticant difference effectiveness of using cALL to improve students' English Achievement. compare with using the conventional method.
