UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK JAHE MERAH (Zingiber officinale var Rubrum) DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN METODE 1,1-DIFENIL- 2-PIKRILHIDRAZIL (DPPH)
XMLABSTRACT STUDY OF ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF EXTRACT RED GINGER (Zingiber officinale var Rubrum) BY METHOD 1,1-DIFENIL-2-PIKRILHIDRAZIL (DPPH) Novita Madeten NIM: 1541013 Antioxidants are important compounds in maintaining a healthy body because they function as many free radical catchers that form in the body causing disease. This study was conducted to determine the antioxidant activity of red ginger using a DPPH spectrophotometric method. Qualitatively the results of phytochemical testing of red ginger showed the presence of secondary metabolic compounds alkaloids, flavonoids, quinones, saponins, tannins, phenolics, and monoterpenoids, and triterpenoids were not detected. Red ginger extract using three types of methanol, dichloromethane and hexane solvents contributed large significance so that they were in different classes. The results showed that extraction using hexane solvents was the best solvent. Red ginger extract with various concentrations of 12.5 ppm, 25 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 400 ppm and 800 ppm. The time of DPPH analysis in this study was 30 minutes. Duncan's Multiple Distance Test with 30 minutes analysis time showed that red ginger extract with a concentration of 800 ppm had significant antioxidant activity. Keywords: extraction, red ginger, antioxidants, DPPH
