ABSTRACT EFFECTS OF ONE GRAM STEVIOL GLYCOSIDE CONSUMED WITH CARBOHYDRATE ASSUMPTION TO HYPERGLYCEMIC PROFILE POSTPRANDIAL SUBJECT NORMOGLIKEMI Kristina Elungan 1541001 Insulin deficiency is the main factor that causes blood glucose levels to increase (hyperglycemia), one of the functions of insulin is to regulate the concentration of glucose in the blood, if the condition of glucose in the blood increases the hormone insulin will be taken to liver cells and converted to glucagon and stored. Diabetes mellitus is a group of syndromes characterized by hyperglycemia. It is suspected that stevioside and steviol compounds showed a potential role as an antihyperglycemic agent in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Therefore, this study will prove whether there is an effect of one gram of steviol glycosides consumed together with carbohydrate intake on the profile of postprandial hyperglycemia in normoglycemic subjects. This study used 30 normoglycemic male participants with an age of 18-22 mean years (19.6 ± 1.7), average body weight (57.6 ± 10.3), mean height (164.6 ± 7.5). By using a glucose tolerance test orally with a 75 gram carbohydrate intake and one steviol glycoside salt. Postprandial blood glucose levels were measured every minute 0, 30, 60, 90, 120. Data obtained from each group are as follows; Control group (102.6 ± 11.74), (171.9 ± 33.78), (144.6 ± 31.68), (138.1 ± 34.74), (117.5 ± 31.89) ) Treatment group (101.7 ± 17.63), (160.4 ± 44.60), (163.7 ± 41.11), (136.2 ± 23.53), (113.0 ± 10.93) ) To compare the glucose group and treatment using the Independent Sample T-test statistical test. Based on the results of statistical tests, one gram of steviol glycoside has an effect in the 60 minutes with p = 0.041 lower than α = 0.05 which is consumed together with carbohydrate intake in normoglycemic subjects. The average comparison diagram of giving one gram of steviol glycosides together with 75 grams does not affect postprandial blood glucose levels in normoglycemic subjects.
