THE EFFECT OF UTILIZING SONGS IN TEACHING GERUND

ABSTRACT This rcspigch is entitled "Etrect of r11ilizing songs in trehing genmd". This research was conducted in SMAN I Parongrong. There were 57 students who participated uihich were taken from group XC as a control group and )(D as an experimental group. This study was divided into thr€e steps (l) the pretest (2) the treatment with songs and without songs (3) and the post-test. The research instrument that researcher used was English songs as a test in pretest md post-test. In the treahent the reseacher implemented English song to experimental group. At the end of the treament the researcher found that the mean score ofpost-test in control group was 74.107 and for the gloup was 77 .586 arrd P-value was 0.154. This means the Ho is not accepted at o = 0.05. There is a sigrrificant difference in the student ability to leam gerunds between those who were taught using songs and those who were taught not using songs. The researcher ho@ that lhe snrdy could give some contributioa to ffus ufilizing of songs in teaching gerund especially for senior high school. Key words: Songs, Effectiveness, Gerund
