FACTORS THAT INFLUENCE STUDENTS' MOTIVATION IN LEARNING ENGLISH GRAMMAR AND ITS CORRELATION

ABSTRACT This study discussed about the factors that influenced students' rrntivation rn learning English grammar and its correlation The marn purpose of this sludy was to daermine which factor mostl-v* inlluenced students' nrotivalion in learning English grarnmar. This stud-v involved four secondar-r' schools in Bandung oflndonesia Thel' are named SMPN I Lembang, SMPN 15, SMPK Paulus, and SMP Advent Bandung. The total numbers of students were 88 from grade VIII. The data were collected through questionnakes. The dara were sorted out eld classified according to their relevance to answer the research problern From this studl'. according to factor anall'sis by using SPSS. Leaming Environment Factor is the nDst dominant factor that influenced students' rnotivation in leaming English grammar. From the correlalion test. the researcher also found thal all faclors (First l-anguage. Atirude. Learning Environment. and Teaching Strategt)have significant correlation with the students' rnotivalion rn learning English gramnur. Key words: Factors: English grammar: Students' motivation
