A STUDY ON THE USE OF PAINTING TEHNIQUE TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ CREATIVENESS IN DESCRIPTIVE WRITING

ABSTRACT This study was aimed to find out the use of using Painting Technique in enhancing students’ creativeness in descriptive writing. This research used quantitative research method and experimental design. This study was conducted to the tenth grade of students SMA YADIKA BANDAR LAMPUNG in Academic year of 2014/2015. The samples of this research were the tenth grade IPA1 class as the experimental class and the tenth grade IPA2 as the control class with 33 students in each class. The data was collected through pre-test and posttest by using essay tests and analyzed by using t-test. Therefore, the result of this study concluded that there is a significant difference in enhancing students’ creativeness in descriptive writing between those who are taught using Painting Technique and those who are taught using the conventional method. In other words, providing painting as a media in descriptive writing was effective to help students develop their imagination and can think freely. Keywords: painting, writing, descriptive text
