ABSTRACT This research is entitled 'Eflectrveness of Peer Response in Irnpror ing Senior High School Students' Writing Ability at SMA Su'asta Pematangsiantar. Students have difficulties to thrnk what they want to write because lack of vocabulary in English and poor grammar. Srudents rvill work hard on that. This research was designed to find out the eflectiveness of using '"r ritten peer response in teaching u,riting.The research u,as staned on Fcbruary at S\4A S\asta Petuatangsiantar. The respondents of this research rvere J5 lor control group and 35 lbr crpetilttcntal g.ou1r. This research was conducted in ten mcetings for each group This tesearch is experimental research u'hrch uses quantltati\c data artd statistical lbntt to calculatc the data. The instrument of this study u'as giving pre-test betbre tleatnlent and postIest aftemreatrnent. From the calculation of students' scores in cxpcrinrcntal groupthe result shorved that there is signilicant ef'fect by utilizingpect response towards students' wnting ability enhanccmcnt. cornpanng uith the ellect by utilizing conventional method.
