ABS TRAC T This study is entitled, "skimmj-ng Capability of Analysrs of Business Students Taking English II at Universitas Advent Indonesia". As we have real-ized that si:imming is one useful reading technique for us in or.ier to gain rnformation. This study invofves the firstyear students of Business Department of Llniversrtas Advent Indonesia as the subiect of the research. The purpose of this study is to find out problens of the students in skimming and to measure how weII ti:ev coufd skrm. There are some factors related to the siuCy, that is how frequent they practice read:'ng by s}:imming and how often the instructor teach them to The writer has found that according to scne experts skimming caPabilitY is a signiflcant skill for a college s tudent . The writer used a descriptive method to prove her research and from her research she found out from her r:espond.ents that 17: of them are fast skimmers, 55.' are medium skimmers and 331 are slow skimmers. The wr'iter prepared some reading material-s for the responcients to sk].m ano through this comprehension test she found their capability in skimming. As the result of her study. skimming should be learnei and practrced more, they stiII face problem doing swimming.
