THE RELATIONSHIP BETWIN THE PERCEPTION IN USING BATAK LANGUAGE AMONG THE FIRST YEAR STUDENTS AT UNIVERSITAS ADVENT INDONESIA WHO CAME FROM JAKARTA WITH THE ROLE OF THEIR PARENTS IN SPEAKING BATAK LANGUAGE IN THEIR HOMES

Nowdays, many of the young generations dc not really care in understanding their native language si:rce they were born and grew up outside their native la:ld especially in Jakarta as one of a big city in Inlonesia, where cultures are mixed up in this place. There are many factors which can j-nf luence the p€:ception in using Batak language among the students who ca:ne f rom I r::.i t he r Jakarta. So the problems. They speaking Batak writer took two factors to are a) the role of thelr pa:ents lanquage in their homes and b) in th: length From of stay in ,lakarEa. her research which she did rn with questionnaire, descriptive method and statistical analysis by using multiple linear regression from SPSS and were conciucted to all the firs year students at Llniversitas Advent Indonesia who came from Jakarta, the writer has found the answers. The wrlter found out that there is relat.ionship between the perception in using Batak fanguage among the first year students at Universitas Advent Indonesia with the role of their parents in spea,ting Batak language in Lheir homes since r=0.67 and the srgnificant : 0.000 and the coef fic.ient determination is 461 which means the perception in using Batak language among the children rvere influenced by the roLe of their parents onfy 46 and the rest is influenced by the other factors. The writer also has found there is relationship between the tength of stay in Jakar:ta with the perception in using Batak fanguage among the first year students at Uni-rersitas Advent Indonesia who came from Jakarta ' By knowing r= 0.29, a weak relevance between both variables and which .is not significant since it is 0'1184, but still there is a relationshj-p. The coefficient of determination shows that the .Iength of stay in Jakarta influence the perceptron in using Batak language among the frsrt year students at Universitas Advent Indonesia who came from Jakarta only 8z anci the rest is influenced by the o1-her factors.
