A STUDY ON WORD-MAPPING IN ENHANCHING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to identify the effectiveness of using Word- Mapping in enhancing students’ vocabulary. This research used quantitative research method and experimental design. The participants of this study were 82 students grade X of SMA Negeri 1 Lembang, Bandung. They were divided into two groups who were in class X MIA 2 as control group and X MIA 3 as experimental group. These two groups took the same pre-test. The experimental used Word-Mapping and the control group used conventional method, and at the end of the treatment both group took the same post-test. This instrument in enhance students’ vocabulary used t-test calculation. Based on the result of the data there is a significant difference in students’ vocabulary enhancement between those who were taught using Word-Mapping and those who were taught using conventional method. From this result the researcher concludes that the use of Word-Mapping can enhance students’ vocabulary. Keywords: Word-Mapping, Vocabulary Enhancement
