ABSTRACT This study is entitled "Effectiveness of Utilizing Base Group Strategy Towards Students' Reading Comprehension'' was applied to investigate base group strategy rcading technique on reading comprehension achievement at SMP Negeri I Cisanra, Banduag The participants were grade 8E and grade 88 students. The expcrime,ntal gpup was taught using base group sratery and the control group was taught using conventional method. This study was to find how far the students have mastered in reading comprehension as shown in their works and to see if there is sipificant between the two groups. This research was divided into three steps: Giving a pretest, treatment @ase Group Strategy) and the last was giving posttest. Therefore, the conclusion is, there is a sipificant difference in reading comprehension between those who were taught using Base Group Strategy and those who were not taught.
