ABSTRACT COMPARATIVE STUDY BETWEEN ING NGARSA SUNG TULADHA AND SNOW BALL-THROWING (SBT) COMPARATIVE LEARNING MODELS TO ENHANCE STUDENTS’ READING COMPREHENSION ABILITY Prepared by Sue Ezz Dusi 1521021 The purpose of this study is to find out the enhancement of students’ reading comprehension through Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha and Snow-ball Throwing (SBT) Cooperativelearning model and to see the difference. The study was done in SMA Negeri 1 Parongpongand was conducted to 43 students’ class X MIA 2 using Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha and the other group composed of 45 students of class X MIA 4were taughtusing Snow-ball Throwing. The result of this study shows that both groups of students have enhanced their reading comprehension ability. In addition, there is significant difference between those who are taught using Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha and those who are taught using Snow-ball Throwing. Based on student’s response questionnaire, both classes ‘like’ the learning model and the teacher’s teaching style. The learning model of Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha got 69.76% meanwhile the Snow-ball Throwing got 68.90%. Regarding teacher’s teaching style, Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha got 61.63% meanwhile the Snow-ball Throwing got 66.67%. However, the ‘English lesson’ aspect, Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha model fall on ‘Dislike’ category meanwhile Snow-ball model falls on ‘Ordinary’ category.
