MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN PENALARAN MATEMATIS SISWA SMP MELALUI STRATEGI MULTI REPRESENTASI KLASIKAL DAN KELOMPOK KECIL

ABSTRACT MATHEMATICAL REASONING ABALITY TO IMPROVE STUDENT AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL THROUGH MULTI STRATEGY REPRESENTATION OF CLASSICAL and SMALL GROUP Nopa Sihombing 1222009 The aim of this research was to learn about students’ mathematical reasoning improvement related to set, the material for seventh grade. The design of this research is comparative study, involving two groups of students. Sample of this research were the VII A class students from SMP Perguruan Advent Cimindi, West Java considered as group 1 and the VII A class student from SMPN 1 Parongpong, West Java considered as group 2. The treatment given to group 1 is classical multiple representation strategy and to group 2 multiple representation strategy with small group. The result of this research showed that (1) There were improvement in the students’ reasoning ability in those two groups, (2) There were no significant differences in the reasoning ability improvement between students who were thought using classical multiple representation and small group multiple representation strategy (3) The student in both groups showed a positive response towards the classical multiple representation strategy and small group multiple representation strategy.
